Urbana University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach its Seminar in Personal Philosophy course in a face-to-face format beginning Spring term, 2018. These 3 credit hour, 16 week classes will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on the Urbana campus and will be offered in all semester terms.  

This capstone course for junior or senior students is designed to offer a survey of major philosophical schools in the Eastern (Chinese, Indian, Islamic) and Western traditions.  The concepts and value are organized around ethics, religion, and philosophical anthropology.  Students are required to read the texts critically and discuss them in class.

Requirements for this position include a passion for teaching face-to-face and a commitment to lifelong learning.  Must have at least a Master’s degree in a subject matter or related academic sub-field of the Humanities.  The successful candidate must have at least 18 graduate credit hours of Philosophy or related academic subfield stressing logical reasoning and critical thinking skills.  PhD candidates are strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience is required. In order to be considered for these positions, you must have daytime availability.
