Residence Hall Director
The Residence Hall Director plays an integral role in shaping the experience of residential students and will assist in developing a premier residential experience for all students. This position will be responsible for development and administration of a supportive environment with a residential community of 300+ students. Each Residence Hall Director will oversee a student population ranging from 100-150 students. The Residence Hall Director is responsible for the continual student development and implementation of the day to day Residence hall operations and Residence Assistants (RA) under the supervision of the Director of Student Life.
The Residence Hall Director will assist with residence hall training, programming and community efforts, serve as contact within the halls for summer camps with the Director of Student Life, assist with summer orientation, move-in procedures and Welcome Weeks, conduct minor judicial meetings and serve in the on-call rotation.
The Residence Hall Director is a 12 month live-in position. An on-campus apartment and meal plan will be provided. Tuition Remission will be available if candidate is enrolled in a Higher Education, College Student Personal or similar master’s level program. Salary will be award in lieu of Tuition remission.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters Preferred in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling or related field.
Experience in Residence Halls, Residence Hall Programming, Student Leadership, Student Conduct and Student Engagement/Development.
Experience in planning, organizing or implementing staff development and training programs for residence life as well as day-to day operations and procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice
Demonstrated experience in supervising undergraduate staff
Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate staff and student relationships. Effectively supervise, lead, coach, evaluate, advice, and assist others.
Understand and apply conflict management and crisis intervention strategies.
Work autonomously and as a team member
Manage budgets and other resources
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with conflict resolution and peer-to-peer mediation practices
Knowledge of current trends in higher education and residence life
Non-traditional working hours. Evening, late night, and weekend hours will be required
Ability to work independently
