Adjunct Faculty - History

Urbana University is seeking an adjunct faculty members to teach History courses in a face-to-face format beginning on August 19, 2019.  Classes will be taught Monday-Friday during the day (varies depending on the specific course). The classes being offered include: World Civilization and US Social and Cultural History. Please see below for course summaries and days/times offered.  

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in History or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in history. Prior teaching experience is required. In order to be considered for these positions, you must have daytime availability.

World Civilization I - MWF  11:00 AM - 11:50 AM; This course is a survey of the major historical periods in civilization from early beginnings to circa 1500 A.D. Students will gain perspectives of world civilization in addition to Western cultural focuses. This survey will integrate art, philosophy, science, and history into meaningful themes.

US Social and Cultural History - TR 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM; A survey of the development of the social and cultural history of the United States from the colonial period to today. Emphasis is placed upon the Unites States' diverse peoples and the cultural forces that shaped their daily lives. Special attention will be given to: Native American, African Americans, Reform Movements, Popular Culture, with emphasis on race, class, gender, ethnicity, technology, environment, industrialization urbanization, immigration, migration and wars.
