We’re On Your Side

Urbana University views the Student Conduct process as an educational opportunity and as a part of the total learning process. The intent of the proceedings is to arrive at fair and impartial decisions that insure that students assume full responsibility for their actions, and insure the rights, freedom and safety of all members of this educational community.

Student Conduct Proceedings

Student Conduct proceedings at Urbana University are administrative rather than criminal in nature, and are not required to conform to the sophisticated procedures demanded in a criminal law trial. Student Conduct proceedings do not replace state laws nor are students immune from the legal process. Federal, state and local laws must be obeyed.

Peer-Based System

The Urbana University Student Conduct process utilizes a unique, award-winning system of undergraduate peer conduct officers (selected from hall directors, Residence Life staff, and interested students identified by the Student Government Association). This developmental student conduct system prides itself on “teachable moments” … not only with the student having the conduct hearing, but that can also with students taking part in the administration of the Student Conduct system. This peer-based system provides student facilitators and students in the conduct hearing the opportunity to develop their own teachable moments through their hearing process.
