Urbana University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach its Media Writing course in a face-to-face format beginning Spring term, 2018. This class will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 8th-March 2nd from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. on the Urbana campus.   
This is a course explores approaches and techniques for conducting research and writing within key public relations contexts.  Students in this course will examine and utilize research techniques and methodologies that are essential for public relations professionals.  Components of this course will include:  journalistic research, copywriting, research and writing for broadcast, web research, writing for the web, transforming technical information for general audiences, and media release writing.  Additionally, this course will examine the ethics involved in researching and writing for public relations contexts.
Requirements for this position include a passion for teaching face-to-face and a commitment to lifelong learning.  Must have at least a Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Composition, or a related field and experience in news writing, PR writing, and general composition.  A Master’s degree in composition or journalism with experience in PR writing for news/social media is preferred.  The successful candidate must have at least 18 graduate credit hours within these disciplines.  PhD candidates are strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience is required. In order to be considered for this position, you must have daytime availability.
