Urbana University Partners with Aladdin for Healthy, Modern Dining

Urbana, OH (May 17, 2017)
Urbana University announces Aladdin Food Management Services as our new partner for all dining needs on campus beginning August 1, 2017. The Urbana-Aladdin collaboration will begin with the renovation of The Dining Commons, with additional improvements being made at the White Family Grill, where students and visitors will enjoy Starbucks products.
Aladdin was invited to present to a committee comprised of faculty, staff and students as part of Urbana’s recent food service provider search. Aladdin is committed to freshly prepared meals and using high-quality locally sourced foods. Students are excited about the healthy options presented by Aladdin, including gluten-free and meals that cater to different nutritional allergens. Integrated technology will be available to educate students on nutritional information.
New meal plans will be available for traditional and non-traditional students, including The Commuter Lite plan, available to all commuter students, encouraging them to connect on campus to better integrate into the Urbana culture. A modest 4% increase to board rates has been incorporated supporting multiple enhancements to the dining program and facilities. Urbana’s tuition and room rates for the 2017-18 academic year did not increase.
“On behalf of Urbana University, we welcome Aladdin Food Management Services to our family. We are pleased to offer a state-of-the-art dining experience for all students to enjoy. I look forward to inaugurating the upgraded facility and menu options with our students upon their return in the fall,” said Dr. Christopher Washington, Executive Vice President and Provost.
“Aladdin is very excited to partner with Urbana University as we create a dynamic culinary management program for the students, faculty and guests. As our first location in Ohio, we will position the University as our flagship account in order to build awareness and increase new student recruitment. Program highlights include access to our Starchef nutrition program, diverse menu offerings and renovations to the White Family Grill and The Dining Commons. The Aladdin Team looks forward to becoming part of the Urbana University community,” shared Aladdin President, Keith Cullinan.
The renovation, scheduled for completion by the end of summer, will allow students to celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony upon their return. With extended hours planned, the dining commons will offer an additional space on campus for studying, food, fun and fellowship for the entire campus community.
