Urbana University, Franklin University and Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) Sign Education Agreement

Urbana and Franklin Universities are proud to announce the formal signing of a global educational partnership with Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Signed in early June, the agreement officially marks the new partnership as well as the opportunity to extend educational offerings beyond geographic borders.

Through the agreement, students at UAG will be able to participate in education exchange programs at both Urbana and Franklin Universities.  With the underlying idea of expanding career opportunities locally and on the global stage, UAG and Franklin will seek to offer a dual degree graduate programs and advanced undergraduate certifications online.  In addition, the institutions now have the opportunity to create various joint activities, such as student mobility, teaching a second language, online education, dual degree programs, research and joint publications, among others.

“Through this signing, Urbana and Franklin Universities continue their mission to provide a high quality, relevant education that enables the broadest possible community of learners to achieve their goals and enrich the world,” said Dr. David Decker, President, Franklin University. "By sharing our expertise in online, global education, we contribute to social and economic development by removing geographic borders from the classroom."

Today’s announcement further solidifies the role of the universities' academic programs play in redefining the term "global" in reference to educational access, academic quality, and global sustainability. Through collaborating agreements such as the agreement with UAG, Urbana and Franklin Universities services the educational needs of international students around the world.

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, commonly abbreviated to UAG or Autónoma, is a coeducational, independent, private university based in the Mexican city of Guadalajara. Established in 1935, it was the first private university and medical school in Mexico. The university was the result of the struggle against the communist and socialist laws and influence in the higher education of Mexico. It was first conceived with the name Universidad del Occidente, but would later be styled to Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
