Urbana University

Founded in 1850, Urbana University serves more than 1,800 students from around the world from its 128- acre campus nestled in the historic city of Urbana, Ohio. Known for providing career-focused programs with individual attention from faculty, the University offers nearly 30 undergraduate programs and several graduate degrees, delivering course work in class, online, or a combination of both. Blue Knights athletics includes 15 NCAA Division II sports along with intercollegiate bowling, cheerleading and shooting sports.

In order to honor and preserve the rich agricultural heritage of the region, as well as to empower students with skills aligned with industry needs, the University added Agribusiness to its curriculum in 2015. Led by Dr. Jeffrey Kalbus, an economist with the Ohio Department of Agriculture for more than 25 years, the program is designed to equip students for careers in agribusiness through a practically focused curriculum integrated with real-life experiences.

Urbana University was the first college in the state to offer a nontraditional degree completion program and the second institution of higher education in Ohio to admit women. Founded by the Swedenborgian friends of John Chapman, the famous frontiersman called “Johnny Appleseed,” the campus is home to the Johnny Appleseed Educational Center & Museum, a rich collection of the personal artifacts and history of this 19th-century American hero.

The Jamon Sellman Nationwide Insurance Agency represents Nationwide Insurance, the top agricultural insurer in the nation. In addition to providing insurance services for home, personal, auto and life, the agency is one of only a few in the region that specializes on serving the needs of clients involved in agriculture.
