Office Assistant - Knights Cupboard

Position Summary:

  • The Student Assistant position for the Knight Cupboard is a part-time position responsible for assisting the Office of Student Life in overseeing and managing the student Knight Cupboard (food program). The student must qualify for a Work-Study position. This position supports the Knight Cupboard with routine tasks that support the day-to-day operations of the program. These tasks include but are not limited to clerical work such as filing, scanning, and sorting, copying and delivering paperwork, maintaining inventory records, stocking shelves with the intake of food donations, rotation of products, assisting students using the Knight Cupboard, and supporting special projects. Individuals in this position are expected to represent the Department and Urbana University in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and provide information to students with a friendly and welcoming disposition
  • Handle the student intake process according to Urbana Universities guidelines
  • Make sure that received food/toiletries are sorted, stocked and stored in an appropriate manner
  • Ensure proper refrigeration of frozen/refrigerated items and perform rotation duties as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate packaging of food depending on the student’s situation
  • Maintain appropriate data to determine food on hand and distributed
  • Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of Knights Cupboard
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide strong customer service
  • Requires Federal Work-Study award

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • Pleasant, positive attitude
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner

Additional Notes:

  • Work hours are flexible during Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (approx. 10-12hrs wk.)
