Head eSports Coach

Urbana University, an NCAA Division II institution located in central Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for a Head eSports Coach.  This is a new, full-time position and the Head Coach will be expected to manage the total growth and operation of the eSports program including, but not limited to, instructing; recruiting and retention; team management; game scheduling; equipment control and monitoring of the eSports gaming room; game/practice management; player strategy development; academic monitoring; and appropriate mentoring including service learning/engagement projects for student-athletes.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for budget management, fundraising, and may include some game administration duties, as well as some departmental and campus committee work/involvement.  Evening and weekend hours will be expected.

We seek someone with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a Master’s degree being preferred.  The selected individual will have demonstrable knowledge of the eSports industry with experience as a coach and/or competitor and applicable experience in one or more of the following games:  League of Legends, Hearthstone, Fortnite, Rocket League and Overwatch.  Prior experience in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes is required.  The position also requires knowledge of and commitment to all institutional and eSports governing body rules and regulations including, but not limited to, NACE philosophy, eligibility, sport playing season, etc.  We seek someone with strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize, motivate and manage a college gaming team and a strong commitment to fulfillment of the University’s mission.  A valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report must be maintained throughout employment in this position as driving student athletes will be part of the responsibilities of this role.  The selected individual must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and a current certification in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid is preferred.
