Annual Employee Awards Luncheon Held

Urbana University celebrated Founders Day by holding the annual Employee Awards Luncheon in the Sara Landess Room of the Urbana University Student Center. Additional awards were presented to the University’s community partners.

Dr. Robert L. Head, President of Urbana University, presented the Founders’ Award for Excellence to Jeffry and Kathleen Yoder. The Founders’ Award is the highest award presented by the University to a member of the faculty or staff. Kathleen Yoder is University Registrar and Jeffry Yoder, Ph.D., is Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science.

The Crystal Apple Award was presented to Arthur Humphrey III of Florida for his support of the Johnny Appleseed Society and the Johnny Appleseed Education Center and Museum.

The Innovation Award went to the University’s Data Stewards Team for its work in implementing a new computer software administrative system.

The Partnership Award went to the Office of Career Services and the College of Education and Allied Professions for their collaborative efforts.

The Urbana Daily Citizen received the External Partnership Award. In addition to coverage of University events, the Daily Citizen has partnered with the University in sponsoring special events for the public. Managing Editor Brenda Burns accepted the award in the newspaper’s behalf.

The Community Partnership in Education Award was presented to Siemens and Automation, Inc. for its support of University programs.

The Lewis and Jean Moore Philanthropy Award was presented to the Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, Inc., Church on the Hill, for its financial support of Urbana University.

Awards for Excellence in Performance went to the following:

• Gene Holycross, Sodexho Campus Services Award

Longevity Awards were presented to:

• 20 years, Sylvia Wirsing-Bryant, Ph.D.
• 15 years, Cheryl A. Fenno, Ph.D.
• 10 years, Patricia J. Sommer
• Five years, James O. Alexander, William T. Coffman, James Cooper, Jr., Christopher Deon Doster, Jesse A. Edwards, Carol Gleeson, John F. Gore, Robert E. Harness, James Judge, Jr., Ph.D., Robert D.
