How to Use the Library Catalog

The Urbana University Library has several helpful online research tools you can use for papers and projects:

Research Search Instructions

University Catalog Search Instructions

  1. Open your web browser (Google Chrome works best) and go to the Urbana University Library page. 
  2. Choose to search by Keyword, Title or Author in the drop down menu. 
  3. Type the keyword, title or author you’re looking for in the search box. If you want to be really specific, you can filter your search by checking one or more of the following limiter boxes: 
    • Full-Text (Online)
    • Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) 
    • Catalog Only
  4. Click the Search button to reveal your results.

Didn’t find what you were looking for in the Urbana Catalog? Try OhioLINK, where you can find resources available to you from more than 50 colleges and universities across Ohio.

 

OhioLink Search Instructions

  1. Open your web browser (Google Chrome works best) and go to the Urbana University Library page.
  2. Click on OhioLINK Catalog under Books.
  3. Choose to search by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, Call Number or Other Numbers using the buttons above the search box. 
  4. Type the Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, Call number or Other Numbers you’re looking for in the search box. (Search examples are available if you need them.)
  5. Click the Search button to reveal your results.

 

What do I do with my OhioLINK search results? Follow these steps.

  1. Click on the result that best meets your needs.
  2. Check the Library Holdings Box to see which libraries have the book and where they’re located.
  3. Look for an available copy of the resource, click on the Request button. 
  4. Choose Urbana University as your school or institution and click on Submit Above Information. 
  5. Enter your last name, first name, and barcode number (a 14-digit number beginning with 22024).  
  6. Click Submit. (Keep the Pickup Institution and Pickup Location fields as they are.) 
  7. Log Off when you’re finished searching to protect your name and barcode number.

 

Requesting more than one resource? 
OhioLINK will remember your name and barcode so you only need to enter them once per session. When you request additional resources, a Request Verification box will come up – just click Submit.

 

When will my OhioLink resource arrive? 
The resource will be delivered to the Urbana University Library in two to three days. We’ll call you or send you a Facebook message when it arrives. You can check out the resource for three weeks with up to six renewals if no one else in OhioLINK puts a hold on it.

SearchOhio Search Instructions 

When you bring up the item you want:

  1. Click on the Request Item button to the left of the entry.  
  2. Choose Urbana University and click on Submit Above Information. 
  3. Enter your last name, first name, and barcode number (a 14-digit number beginning with 22024). 
  4. Choose the Library Circulation Desk as your pickup location.
  5. Click Submit.

 

Still can’t find it?
If you can’t find the resource you need in the Urbana University Library Catalog, on OhioLINK or via SearchOhio, just fill out an interlibrary loan request form at the Circulation desk. The resource will be delivered to the Urbana University Library in seven to ten days. We’ll call you or send you a Facebook message when it arrives.
