Empty Bowls - Save the Date for 2014!

“Empty Bowls of Champaign County,” an event to raise awareness about the growing problem of hunger in Champaign County, will be held January 30, 2014 at the Urbana University Student Center.  The event, a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties, offers patrons a beautifully hand-crafted bowl and a simple meal of soup and bread for $15 per person. Blue Knight students with a current Urbana University ID can enjoy the simple meal without the bowl for a $5 donation.

All proceeds benefit the Food Bank, which supports 11 Champaign County member agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.  The Food Bank collects, stores, and distributes over 526,000 pounds of food per year to these member agencies for distribution to hungry families and individuals throughout the county. All funds raised will go to the Food Bank to support these Champaign County agencies.
