The Games Begin with U at Homecoming 2012!
Hundreds of Urbana alumni will return to their alma mater for the 2012 Homecoming on October 20, old and new friends and current students and alum will join together for a weekend full of events that includes reunion celebrations, the Three Arches Awards Ceremony, and the Homecoming football game complete with tailgating activities.
The weekend begins on Friday, October 19 with the UU women’s soccer game vs. Ohio Midwestern University at 3:30 p.m. The soccer game is followed by a volleyball match: Urbana University vs. Notre Dame College at 6 p.m. Volleyball and soccer alumni are invited to cheer on our student-athletes and to meet up in the Grimes classroom for light refreshments at 5 p.m.
Later Friday evening, visit Carmazzi’s, revisit your favorite pizza place, peruse the downtown shops, and take in a movie at the Urbana Chakeres Theatre for old time sake.
Saturday will open with the opportunity to watch softball alumni take the field against our current Blue Knights at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. the Pancake Breakfast in the Student Center is the place to be! Join us for reunion celebrations for class years ending in 1 and 7 and take part in the Three Arches Alumni Award Ceremony. All Blue Knights are warmly invited to attend.
Prior to the noon football game kick-off between Urbana University vs. McKendree University on Saturday, take part in the cheerleading alumni celebration at 10:30 a.m. and a band alumni celebration at 11 a.m. The Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a pre-game tailgate. Featured activities include children’s inflatable fun, “The Hub” party tent, and Spirit March to the stadium.
Alumni and friends are also invited to show their UU pride and tailgate in the Blue Knight Stadium parking lot.
After the football game, the festivities continue as the Alumni Office hosts a post-game reception from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. for UU alumni and friends at Bracken’s Pub, 106 Miami Street in Urbana. Join your classmates and catch up with old friends at this alumni reunion event. Refreshments and appetizers will be provided and a cash bar will be available.
Post-game events include an Alumni Relations sponsored post-game reception at Brackens and a church service at the Urbana Swedenborgian Church on Sunday morning.
Registration for all events is encouraged. Alumni are encouraged to check-in on game day at the alumni tent near the Blue Knight Stadium for your free alumni gift. Presale game tickets can be purchased online.
