Open Auditions for UU Production of Titanic: The Musical
URBANA, Ohio (February 2, 2012) - The community is invited to try out for the “once in a lifetime” experience to be in the Urbana University Singers’ production of Titanic: The Musical. Any community member between high school and adult age is encouraged to audition for a role. Tenors and baritones are much needed for larger roles as well as all vocal parts for the chorus. Auditions for the community will be held on Tuesday, February 7, at 6:00 p.m. in “The Hub” on campus. Come prepared with a solo that showcases your voice with an accompaniment track; a CD player will be provided. Otherwise, you may sing a cappella. Also, be prepared to read a portion of the script.
The musical is set from the docks of Southampton, England to the fateful collision with the iceberg. Characters are introduced from First Class, like John Jacob Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim, as well as people from the Second and Third class with names that have been forgotten. The passengers and crew have pride and astonishment as they board the “largest moving object in the world” to the utter despair and disbelief of the survivors at her loss.
The musical performances are on April 14-15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Urbana University Student Center. This production commemorates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMA Titanic. The event is free and open to the public. If you have any questions, please contact Robert Marks, director of choral activities at Urbana University, at 937-484-1205 or email. firstname.lastname@example.org.
