Urbana University Alumni and Friends Invited to the 2013 Homecoming
URBANA, Ohio (October 8, 2013) - Hundreds of Urbana alumni will return to their alma mater for the 2013 Homecoming on October 12. Old and new friends, current students and alumni will join together for a weekend full of events that includes reunion celebrations, the Three Arches Awards Ceremony, and the Homecoming football game, complete with tailgating activities.
The weekend begins on Friday, October 11 with a Blue Knight Block Party at 6 p.m. in The Quad. Join current students and old friends for a spirited rally on the lawn to cheer on your Blue Knights. There will be fire pits, snacks, and more!
Later Friday evening, travel down memory lane while buying candy at Carmazzi’s, revisiting your favorite pizza place or hang out, shopping in the new downtown shops, or joining up with friends at old stomping grounds like Brackens.
Saturday will open with the opportunity to watch the UU softball alumni take the field against our current Blue Knights at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., the Homecoming Brunch in the Student Center is the place to be! Meet up with your classmates and take part in the Three Arches Alumni Award Ceremony. All Blue Knights are warmly invited to attend. Ben Mitchell ’79 is the recipient of the 2013 Three Arches Alumni Award. He serves on the Urbana University Board of Trustees and recently helped create a new MBA program customized for employees of AkzoNobel Coatings, Inc. in Columbus. Ben is the Extrusions Coatings Sales & Marketing Manager for the Americas as well as for the Middle East and Asia Pacific markets.
Prior to the noon football game kick-off between Urbana University vs. Concord University on Saturday, take part in the cheerleading and band alumni gatherings. Alumni cheerleaders are to gather at the stadium at 10:30 a.m. Royal Blue alumni are to meet at the UU Stadium at 8:30 a.m. to rehearse for the Alumni & Friends pregame and halftime show performance. The Office of Alumni Relations Alumni and Hospitality tents will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Alumni and friends are also invited to show their UU pride and tailgate in the Blue Knight Stadium parking lot.
Registration for all events is encouraged. Alumni are encouraged to check-in on game day at the alumni tent near the Blue Knight Stadium. Presale game tickets can be purchased online.
