UU is becomming "A Campus of Difference"

A Campus of Difference is a diversity education session created by the Anti Defamation League (ADL).  The ADL is a leader in the development and delivery of anti-bias training and resources for college and university campuses throughout the United States. At Urbana University, this session invites faculty and staff to explore the impact of stereotypes, bias and discrimination on individuals and on the entire campus climate.

Building on this awareness, they are able to identify effective strategies to respond effectively to bias, implement effective policies on campus, and inspire students to speak out and become the advocates and voices of positive change on campus. "A Campus of Difference" workshops are helping establish more welcoming, inclusive and diverse environments where people have true opportunities to reach for their fullest potential as global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

Urbana University has made a commitment to diffusing this sort of understanding throughout our community.  A group of trained facilitators will be on campus September 9 to present a four hour training session from 9:00am-1:00pm in the Sara Landess Room of the Student Center. We are looking for 10-15 faculty or staff members and 35-40 students. With support from the Office of the Provost, any student participating in the training will be excused from classes.

Are you interested in building a climate of respect on our campus?

Would you like to better understand both yourself and others?

Are you brave enough to learn to be an advocate and a voice of positive change?
