CBC Blood Drive Honors Urbana University Professor

Student Group Host Drive in Memory of Kathy Bumbalough

URBANA, Ohio (April 30, 2013) – The Urbana University student organizations “Small Steps” and “Bluu Crew” sponsored a Community Blood Center (CBC) blood drive on campus April 25 in honor of Kathy Bumbalough, an assistant professor at UU, who recently lost her battle with cancer.

Kathy Bumbalough was diagnosed in November and passed away in March. The blood drive generated tremendous support with 41 registrations, including 15 first-time donors, and 32 donations for 107 percent of the collection goal.

The Small Steps and Bluu Crew student organizations sponsored the blood drives held on campus during the 2011-2012 school year. CBC presented the students with the Life Saving Ambassadors award, recognizing Urbana University for hosting four blood drives last school year and achieving 88 percent of the collection goal for the year.
