UU College of Social & Behavioral Sciences Second in the Film Discussion Series

URBANA, Ohio (October 22, 2012) – The Urbana University College of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites the public to attend the second in a series of monthly programs on Thursday, October 25, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the University Student Center Moore Conference Room, when Wendy Gilbert, assistant professor of criminal justice, presents “Fact or Fiction: An Informal Examination of CSI.” The program will focus on the myths and realities of the criminal justice system as portrayed on one of televisions’ most popular series, CSI. Attendees may bring a lunch or purchase items at the White Family Grill on the main level of the Student Center.

Ms. Gilbert earned a M.S. and A.B.D. degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati and is currently completing her Ph.D. in criminal justice at UC. As a former police officer, she worked extensively with victims of sexual and domestic violence. Her research areas are victimology, policing, and criminal justice theory. She is married with two children and lives in Mason, Ohio.

Next month, Dr. Karen Basinger will present the third film discussion program, “Schizophrenia”. More information will be forthcoming prior to the program.
