Alumni Give Back to Benefit the Soccer Program
Almost 50 Urbana University alumni, friends, and members of the campus community participated in the Alumni Soccer Event on Saturday, April 7 to raise funds for the University’s Andia Shisler Memorial Fund. Alumni versus student matches kicked off the day followed by a social at the local restaurant, Fusion 40.83.
Mary Brunner ’07 attended as a friend of Urbana University’s soccer program; it was her first time attending the event. Mary shared, “Even though I am not a soccer alumnus, I was happy to donate to a great cause. I would rather my money go towards a positive goal in a program that maintains ties with its former players. The event was great!”
Head women’s soccer coach Lauren Lewicki said, “This isn’t just about raising money. It’s about building a tradition for our current student-athletes and having them see that they are part of a strong program with history at Urbana.”
Kat Steiner, director of Alumni Relations, stated, “We are extremely grateful for the Shisler-Gephart family continued interest and support of the memorial fund that honors former student-athlete, Andia. As an institution, we rely on the generosity of our alumni and friends, like the Shisler-Gephart family, to show that Urbana’s impact is memorable.
