Holiday High Tea a Hit for Johnny Appleseed Education Center and Museum
January 20, 2012
The Urbana University campus is still buzzing about the success of the Holiday High Tea held the month of Decemberin the atrium between the historic Barclay and Bailey Halls.
The Holiday High Tea was an unexpected “sold out” event and attracted more than 100 visitors to the Johnny Appleseed(JA) Education Center and Museum. Attendees enjoyed a unique and entertaining experience while supporting themuseum and its mission to promote and memorialize the ideals of Johnny Appleseed. The museum currently holds the largest collection of memorabilia and written information about the life of John “Appleseed” Chapman known to exist in the world. The collection has been used by Appleseed scholars for research and also serves as a clearinghouse of information. The inception of the event was to raise unrestricted funds for the Johnny Appleseed Education Center and Museum.
Joe Besecker, long time Urbana University employee and Director of the Johnny Appleseed Education Center and Museum, states, “We were pleased our first JA Holiday High Tea was so popular! The High Tea held just before Christmas was a tremendous success because of the planning and hard work by the JA Society members and Bill Robbins, the High Tea Captain.”
A special thank you to program sponsors: Teabaggers Gourmet Teas & Coffees, High Street Manor Bed & Breakfast, Guild Galleries Interiors & Gifts, and Bobby D’s Cakes & More.
Plans for next year are underway; the event will be held on December 15, 2012.
