Justin ''Fast Eddy'' Edwards '05 to Appear in UFC during February

Life has changed quite a bit for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competitor Justin "Fast Eddy" Edwards  '05 from when he was a student-athlete at Urbana University.  For example, it's not uncommon for him to have 150 Facebook friend requests in one day after a big fight.  His training schedule is grueling; his work demanding; and his determination to his fans and sport have him on the UFC stage.  Edwards credits Urbana University for some of his success.

He states, "Urbana put me in the spot that I needed to be.  I was football oriented and in an academic mindset.  I feel like I'm more devoted to my training because I went to college; I had the ability to manage my time and be goal oriented. Training two to three times a day is a lot easier because I had experiences as a student athlete."

What does Justin say about his true Blue fans?  He jokingly laughs and admits, "In my early days, there was always a Blue Knight cheering section.  It was a bunch of guys I played with and the majority of my fans were Urbana alums!"  If you're looking to cheer on Edwards, you can do so next month.  According to the UFC website, Edwards is slated for UFC fight 143 on February 4 in Las Vegas.
