2011 Brown Bag Luncheon Series

                                                                                   
URBANA, Ohio (November 21, 2011) - The public is invited to another in a series of Brown Bag Luncheon sponsored by Urbana University's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from noon - 1 p.m. in the Moore Conference Room on the lower level of the Student Center. This month's program is entitled, "Modern Day Slavery: Research in Domestic Human Trafficking" and presented by Anthony Dillard, adjunct professor at Urbana University.  Attendees may bring a lunch or purchase items at the White Family Grill on the main level of the Student Center.

The presentation will define what is "modern day slavery", discuss the issue with domestic trafficking and the estimate of the number of victims involved in Ohio, the risk factors, and the supply and demand.

Anthony D. Dillard graduated from Ohio University in 1992 with a BA in political science and received his masters in criminal justice administration from Tiffin University in 2000. Currently, he is completing the final stages of his dissertation from Walden University on the subject of human trafficking.  Prior to Mr. Dillard's teaching experience, he worked at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for six years; served as a student advocate for at risk students at an inner - city high school in Columbus, Ohio, and was active in the private security industry for over 12 years. Mr. Dillard started teaching in 2006 at a technical school in Columbus and began at Urbana University in the fall of 2009. Outside of his work life, Dillard is a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated; co - chair of the Couples Ministry at New Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbus; board member of Central Ohio Crime Stoppers; consultant / armed officer with U.S. Protection Service, a private security company; and married with two children (a daughter and step-son).
