Gift from Honda Improves Lecture Hall

Urbana University held a Rededication Ceremony in celebration of a $50,000 gift from Honda of America to update and showcase a campus lecture hall on Thursday, August 16.

The Honda Lecture Hall was a prior gift from a former capital campaign of the University and has served the University well for more than 17 years.  The Honda Lecture Hall is the largest classroom on campus.  It is located in the Lewis and Jean Moore Center for Mathematics and Science and is used as classroom and meeting space for students and visitors.

This summer, the Honda Lecture Hall received a much needed face-lift and underwent a series of improvements—including new carpet, study tables, and chairs, allowing our students a more functional, comfortable, and ideal learning environment.

Senior Vice President of Honda of America and University Trustee Jim Wehrman said, “Today, Honda does not have a boastful pride.  Rather, Honda of America has a pride that is one of the ultimate rewards of human life.  The Honda Lecture Hall is one concrete example of Honda’s mission to provide a well-rounded education for all students.”

“We wish you the best and look forward to partnering again in the future,” said Wehrman.

The University values the partnership and gift from Honda.  The Rededication Ceremony of the Honda Lecture Hall included a welcome from President Stephen Jones, words on behalf of Honda from Senior Vice President Jim Wehrman, and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
