Urbana University Committed to the Community
Urbana University ramps up its presence at the 2012 Champaign County Fair with a fully-staffed booth during all eight days of the Fair, which is held at the fairgrounds off of Park Avenue in Urbana, Ohio.
Fairgoers have the opportunity to see what the University offers to the general public and also to those seeking higher education. The entire booth, located in the Merchant’s Building, is dedicated to providing resources about various University departments including: Admissions, Alumni Relations, Athletics, The Johnny Appleseed Education Center and Museum, the Miller Center for Visual Arts, and The Alicia Titus Peace Memorial Fund.
“We’re very excited about being a part of the Champaign County Fair once again,” Director of University Relations Christina Bruun-Horrigan said. “The University has supported the Fair for over ten years. Participating in the annual event allows visitors of the Fair speak with a University representative and learn what UU has to offer. They get to talk with someone who is passionate about Urbana and the University.”
“The Fair is an opportunity for the community and the University to showcase themselves,” said Bruun-Horrigan. “Over one-third of our alumni live within fifteen miles of campus and the youth attending the Fair represent the future of the community—we are a supportive, viable part of Champaign County.”
The University is also a part of the Fair Board’s leadership team; Maggie Neer, Katie Weddell, and Caitlin Yoh are current students.
“Even if residents do not make it to the University booth at the Fair, they can always access many of the same resources on the University’s website,” stated Bruun-Horrigan. “The website provides 24-hour access to event information and services. And, we look forward to the 2013 Champaign County Fair!”
The Fair runs through Friday, August 10. For more information on the Champaign County Fair, visit www.champaigncountyfair.com or call 937-653-2640
