2014 Homecoming Court Announced

It’s Homecoming week at Urbana University and campus is already buzzing with Blue Knight pride!

Throughout the week students and university departments have been taking part in Spirit Week. Each day is a different theme and participants are invited to submit their photos for a spirit contest. Photos are on display on the Urbana University facebook page (www.facebook.com/UrbanaU).

Student Organizations have also gotten in the spirit by making their traditional homecoming spirit banners centered around this year’s theme “Blue Knights Unite!” Banners are hanging in the Student Center. Be sure to check out the great work our students have done and the top banners will be on display on Saturday at the stadium. Dr. Pam Shay will be awarding the President's Award for Spirit to the best decorated spirit banner.

This year’s court was selected by an online vote of the Student Body on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning. The 2014 King and Queen will be voted on Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00pm during a Meet the Court event at the Student Center (besides the court, the main attraction will be an ice cream sundae bar!).

There are several more events planned to wrap up the week, including improv comedy group Mission IMPROVable Thursday at 8pm hosted by the Campus Activities Board. Friday features a home volleyball match at 6pm followed by a pep rally and spirit party hosted by the Multi-Cultural Union and BLUU Crew Spirit Club.

The homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime of the football game on Saturday. Also on Saturday, be sure to stop by the BLUE ZONE party that opens during the fourth quarter; $10 admission gets you access to a buffet dinner and live entertainment. Students on a meal plan can enter the party for free using one of their meals on their Student ID. The BLUE ZONE will also feature a beer garden – alcohol tickets can be purchased inside the BLUE ZONE tents.
