Urbana University offers a very competitive scholarship program to our new students! Students are automatically considered for these scholarships once they submit an application for admission to Urbana University. We select students on the basis of academic performance and involvement in co-curricular activities.

Academic Competition

Freshman Academic Scholarships

Our academic scholarship program offers scholarships that range from $1,500 to $9,000 based upon high school grade point average and ACT score at the time of acceptance to Urbana University. Your award does not become final until we receive your final high school transcript after you graduate from high school.

The Seven County Essay Contest

Graduating seniors from Champaign, Clark, Logan, Madison, Miami, Shelby, and Union, Counties have the opportunity to win one full-tuition scholarship (for the 2010-2011 academic year) from Urbana University through an essay writing contest. There will be one winner  and a runner-up to one student from each county. Each scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains full-time enrollment at Urbana University, maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and remains in good-standing with Urbana University at all times. Scholarship amounts do not change from year to year based on any changes in tuition and fees. The full-tuition scholarship is based on the 2010-2011 academic year and will remain at the initial amount of the award when renewed. The runner-up scholarship awarded will be for $10,000.

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to submit their essay for judging:

  • Apply to Urbana University for fall semester 2010
  • Have at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA through mid-term of their senior year
  • Visit campus and have a one-on-one interview with an admissions counselor
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from their High School Guidance Counselor
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from one High School teacher of their choice
  • File a FAFSA prior to April 15, 2010

Essay Information:
Students who meet the criteria above must submit a typed essay on the topic, "How I plan to help my local community after graduation from Urbana University." Applications and essays must be received by the Urbana University Admissions Office no later than April 15, 2010.

Transfer Student Scholarships

Transfer students can receive a great scholarship to Urbana University as well. Our Transfer Student Scholarship program reviews your performance in the classroom. Your scholarship eligibility will be based upon your final grades from the last college that you attended.

Honors Program Scholarships

Students who are up to the task of a more challenging curriculum can be considered for our Honors Program. Students can receive a scholarship up to $5,000 (based upon ACT score) for their participation in our Honors College. Please contact our Admissions Office for more information on our Honors Program. It's a huge challenge, but very rewarding as well!

Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships

The Valedictorian Scholarship is awarded to students who have been selected by their high school as the class valedictorian. Students must present proof of their selection in order to be eligible to receive this scholarship. The maximum amount for the Valedictorian Scholarship is $15,000! This scholarship opportunity is only open to first-time, full-time freshman students at Urbana University.

The Salutatorian Scholarship is awarded to students who have been selected by their high school as the class salutatorian. Students must present proof of their selection in order to be eligible to receive this scholarship. The maximum amount for the Salutatorian Scholarship is $13,000! This scholarship opportunity is only open to first-time, full-time freshman students at Urbana University.

Athletic Scholarships

If you are an athlete and want to continue your participation on into the collegiate level, you can contact one of our head coaches for information regarding that sport. To get in touch with our athletic department, please call our Athletics Office at (937) 484-1325. As we venture into the NCAA Division II world, you can benefit from being a collegiate athlete! Our athletic scholarship program is very competitive with our competition, and we are very proud of that initiative.

Performing Arts Scholarships

Our Royal Blues Marching Band has grown each year and is always looking for new people to add to their ensemble. Students may receive a scholarship for their participation in our Royal Blues Marching Band. Our Choir and Theatre programs are growing as well! Students who love to sing or perform on stage are encouraged to participate in those programs. Students who participate in our Choir or Theatre programs may receive a scholarship for their participation in either of those programs. Cheerleading Scholarships

If you are interested in showing your Urbana University Blue Knight spirit, you may be able to participate in our cheerleading program. Students whom participate in our cheerleading program may receive a scholarship based on talent, participation, and financial need. Student Ambassador Program

Urbana University Student Ambassadors are a vital part of the recruitment of new students. Ambassadors work hand in hand with the Admissions Staff to recruit new students.  Ambassadors give campus tours, assist with phones, emails, and other communications to prospective new students to UU!  Student Ambassadors receive a scholarship based upon participation in this program and completion assigned tasks.  Minimum requirements to apply for a position as Student Ambassador are: 3.0 Cumulative GPA, full-time student status, and be willing to represent Urbana University at functions both on and off campus.  To apply for a Student Ambassador position, please contact Rob Cowles in the Admissions Office at 937-484-1350 or email him at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Bowling Scholarships
