ADVANCEMENT OFFICER (posted January 20, 2010)
- Responsible for soliciting gifts from alumni and non-alumni friends.
- Manage relationships with approximately 150 prospective donors and will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these important alumnae and friends of the University.
- Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development and advancement staff, and other University representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for University-wide priorities.
- Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.
- Recommends and assists with programming involving the President, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, other vice presidents, and campaign volunteer leaders.
- Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships.
- Reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and works collaboratively and strategically with the University President, other fundraising professionals, faculty, and other campus leaders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of primary prospects.
- Manage prospect activity in a primary territory.
- Travel through a primary territory regularly.
- Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
- Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors
- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers
- Cultivate potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
- Make solicitations when appropriate
- Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors - Work collaboratively with University advancement officers. Offer prospect strategy counsel to the President, all vice presidents, and advancement staff who are managing other prospects. Be a resource for advancement staff, from identifying potential volunteer connections to knowing about meeting and event spaces in key locations.
- Focus on securing support for a set of campus-wide priorities that include academic programs such as the sciences, endowed chairs, scholarships, unrestricted support, facility renovations, new facilities, and campus improvements. Provide counsel to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and other key staff on outreach programming in the primary territory.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred
- Successful experience in fundraising preferably in higher education
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the University
- Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the University's fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, trustees, volunteers, and the advancement office team
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
- Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
- Must be willing to travel.

HEAD COACHES--Swimming/Diving, Softball, Women's Lacrosse (Posted January 2010)
Coaches will be responsible for duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. These are 12-month appointments.
General Responsibilities: Serves as the primary recruiter for their team program, identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the office of Admissions. Organizes, in conjunction with the athletic director, all aspects of their team program, including facility, game, practice and operational issues. Acts as a visible person to represent the University in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents. Work closely with the promotional and fund-raising efforts of the Athletic Department. Follow all institutional and NCAA regulations regarding identified sport in particular and athletics in general. Make budgetary suggestions regarding the proper operations and staffing of the areas of responsibility. Enforcing the Student Athlete Code of Conduct at the university. Establishing study table hours for those student athletes who are experiencing academic difficulty. Recruiting student athletes in sufficient numbers to be able to field a team at the average roster size for this sport. Projects and promotes the highest standards for student actions in order to best prepare them as solid citizens and alumni. The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Head Coach will oversee all pool operations and facility rentals as they pertain to the aquatics center. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 3-years experience in coaching intercollegiate athletics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to objectively evaluate physical performance and mental capabilities related to the intercollegiate athletic program. Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences. Effective planning and organizational skills. Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public. Skill in facilitating and modeling a quality customer service orientation. Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural and diverse student population.
Special Requirements: Qualified applicants need to have the availability to work evening and weekends, possess a valid driver's license for transportation of team in vans or bus, and the ability to travel for team practices and competition. Candidate is subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR (posted November 2009)
The successful candidate will serve as the primary manager for the student activities program. This position manages and performs a range of services to promote the educational, social, cultural, and recreational needs of students and creates opportunities for student involvement in campus clubs and organizations. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in Higher Education, College Student Personnel or closely related area and at least two years professional experience working in student services in a higher education setting. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in planning and implementing student leadership programs. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
ATHLETIC TRAINING ASSISTANT (Posted December 2010)
The Urbana University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites applications for the position of assistant athletic trainer. Founded in 1850, Urbana University (located in the small town of Urbana, Ohio) is home to a CAATE accredited athletic training education program. Urbana University is a NAIA Division II school, but is currently pursuing NCAA Division II stature and is in the first year of the exploratory phase. Urbana University has 10 varsity athletic teams and will be adding a more over the next few years.
Requirements: BOC certification; current CPR certification; have current (or be eligible for) state of Ohio athletic training licensure; two years of experience and masters preferred.
Responsibilities: Provide athletic training services for intercollegiate athletics; supervise athletic training students in field setting; provide athletic training coverage in athletic training room, other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director of Athletics; possible teaching opportunities.
