Urbana University offers two Bachelor of Science Completion Programs in healthcare. Associate Degree graduates of Allied Health programs and Registered Nurses who are interested in career advancement in management, supervision or education can obtain a Bachelor of Science degree through a part-time evening program. Courses are delivered through the School for Adult & Graduate Education. Upper division courses and support/general education courses required for the degree are currently available at any of the six Urbana University sites.
The BS Completion Program, grounded in adult education theory, offers direct admission to upper division studies with block credit granted for professional courses completed as part of an associate degree in an Allied Health discipline or in a nursing program leading to RN licensure. No challenge entrance exams or prior knowledge validations are required. Nationally normed exams (i.e., the NCLEX-RN or professional license/certificate in the respective healthcare discipline) confirm the student’s readiness and preparedness to undertake a degree completion program.
Designed as a 2+2 program, the BS Completion Programs welcome all Allied Health and RN graduates who are licensed/certified in the State of Ohio. Learning begins immediately. Classes are small, usually twelve to eighteen students, fostering in-class discussions, expanded opportunities for oral presentations, and small group exercises and projects. Opportunities are provided for satisfying community-based learning and service close to home.
