The BS Completion Program for Associate Degree graduates of Allied Health is designed for working registered healthcare professionals who are interested in career advancement in management, supervision or education. A part-time evening program, the courses are delivered through the School for Adult & Graduate Education. Upper division courses and support/general education courses required for the degree are currently available at any of the six Urbana University sites.
HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT MAJOR
The healthcare management major includes 26 semester credit hours in these courses:
- Human Resource Management in Healthcare
- Research and Assessment Methods
- Managed Care Trends
- Professional Leadership and Service
- Teaching Strategies for Healthcare Professionals
- Ethics in Healthcare Management
- Clinical Practicum in Leadership and Management
The HCM degree also incorporates 10 semester hours of required support courses in Pathophysiology & Current Therapies, Organizational Psychology, and Statistics.
A minimum of 126 semester hours is required for any B.S. degree awarded by Urbana University. At least 60 credits must be obtained from a four-year college or university.
All B.S. students must fulfill the General Education requirements of 45-46 hours which consists of courses in four areas:
- Communications
- Math/Science
- Humanities and
- Social Sciences
Any balance of hours to meet the degree minimum is taken as elective credits.
ADMISSION TO THE HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
In addition to being accepted into the School of Adult & Graduate Education at Urbana University, applicants must submit the following information to complete admission to the Healthcare Management Major. Forms and directions are available from the Allied Health Program Coordinator. These materials are due within 30 days of application or by the end of the second week of your first Urbana University class, whichever is earliest.
- Verification of current, unrestricted Ohio license/certification.
- Evidence of a satisfactory background check in compliance with the Ohio
Revised Code.
- Health assessment by physician or
advanced practice nurse.
- Validation of immunizations (including Hepatitis B) and TB screening.
- Current CPR certification.
