To be considered for federal, state, or institutional financial aid, students are required to file a FAFSA online. Please only use the US Department of Education’s website as this is free and available to all students. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to file your FAFSA. Urbana University’s FAFSA School Code is 003133.
Based on the information provided on the FAFSA, the federal government will make a determination of the amount the family is to contribute towards the student’s educational costs. This amount is called an EFC or Expected Family Contribution. The EFC amount for your family is the same at every college or university; however your financial aid need may be different at each college or university. The difference between the cost of attending Urbana University and the EFC is the student’s eligibility for financial aid.
After Urbana University receives your FAFSA information, we will review the FAFSA before awarding financial aid. We may ask you for additional information (including copies of tax forms, etc) or we will send an award letter to your home. The award letter is a statement of all of the financial aid resources that you may receive from Urbana University for the next academic year. The award letter will also list any forms that the student and/or family need to complete before financial aid can be disbursed to the student account.
All Urbana University students are required to file a FAFSA before June 1 annually, in order to renew their scholarship package. If a FAFSA is not filed by June 1, the student may forfeit any eligibility that they have for all Urbana University scholarship programs. Students are strongly encouraged to file their FAFSA before June 1 even if they feel that they will not be eligible for other types financial aid.
If you have specific questions while you file your FAFSA, please call the Financial Aid Office. We will be very happy to assist you with any questions or concerns that you have about your financial aid and/or the FAFSA process. |
