Undergraduate students may be eligible for the following federal and state programs. Eligibility is based on the information supplied on the FAFSA and enrollment status each semester.
- Federal Pell Grant - Students seeking assistance may apply for this need based federal grant by filing the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant - Urbana University awards these federal funds to students who have high financial need. To apply, file the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA. The amount of this grant varies.
- Ohio Choice Grant - This state program provides a grant of $660 for the 2008-2009 academic year. Ohio Choice Grant is awarded to each full-time student who is a resident of Ohio; has not enrolled full-time at a college or university prior to July 1, 1984; attends a private, four-year institution; and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree. To receive this grant, eligible students must complete and return an Ohio Choice Certification form.
- Ohio Environmental Education Fund
- Ohio Instructional Grant - This program is available to eligible students who are residents of Ohio. To apply for this program, a student must file the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA by October 1 each year. Eligibility is based on family income and number of dependents. Students must be full-time. This award ranges from $444 to $5,466 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
- Ohio Academic Scholarship - Awarded to one student from each Ohio high school who will be enrolled in an Ohio college or university. The amount of the scholarship is $2,205 per year. Contact a high school guidance counselor for more information.
- Ohio War Orphan Scholarship - Awarded to students whose parent served at least 90 days of active duty during a declared war or conflict and is severely disabled or deceased as a result of service. Applications are available from high school guidance counselors or veterans offices. The amount for private education is $5,100 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
- Ohio National Guard Tuition Grant - This program is offered to eligible members of the National Guard. This grant pays the average state-assisted university’s tuition costs at private institutions recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents. The grant is available for undergraduate studies.
