INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

Understanding Professional Etiquette

Unfortunately, not every instance you will encounter in your job search will be ruled by everyday social etiquette. An understanding of proper, professional etiquette is a must, whether you are communicating, having a meal, or meeting new colleagues at a networking or social event.

Career Services is partnering with the Student Activities Committee (SAC) to co-sponsor our first annual etiquette dinner on January 24, 2008. Students will not only learn how to network professionally, but also the proper etiquette for a business-oriented meal. This etiquette meal will include lessons on small talk, handling food during a reception, introducing oneself, as well as the dos and don’ts of dining throughout a five-course meal. This event is open to juniors and seniors and does cost $25 to participate. Space will be limited to the first 50 students who register.
