The University Singers provide students with the opportunity to pursue their interest in vocal music in an ensemble setting.

At this time, membership is open to any university student without audition.

The University Singers perform at various events in the Urbana University community such as (but not limited to) Winter and Spring Commencement, Spring Awards Convocation, and "Christmas On Campus". They also present two major performances each year; a Fall Concert, and a Spring Semester performance. The spring performance alternates between a major choral work with orchestra and a Broadway musical. Music performed by this concert style ensemble ranges from Baroque through 21 st Century, giving members a broad musical background. The highest caliber of musicianship and professionalism is expected of every member of this choral ensemble.

The music program at Urbana University is in a state of continued growth. In the fall of 2008, a new vocal ensemble, the University Chamber Singers was formed. This chamber ensemble contains twelve to sixteen voices and is an audition only ensemble, taking its members from the University Singers. The University Chamber Singers perform chamber music from all style periods.

Urbana University offers substantial scholarships to students that participate in the University Singers. This financial assistance will help members of the University Singers attain a college degree and get a great head start on a fulfilling career. The University Singers continue to welcome new Urbana University students who wish to participate in choral activities. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the University Singers should contact Eric Farrell, Director (eric.farrell@urbana.edu)

From Our Alumni

"Because of Urbana, I grew into a man.  UU nurtured me.  I was a first generation college student and, even though I was a commuter; professors took me under their wing and gave me a home."
