All students, including commuters and nontraditional students, are encouraged to participate in the many cultural, educational, recreational and social events held on campus. Urbana University Appoints Athletic Director

Urbana University announced today the appointment of J. Lawrence (Larry) Cox as Athletic Director. He will assume his role on January 19, 2015.

Having former experience as a collegiate athletic director, assistant athletic director and men’s basketball coach, Cox most recently served as the Director of Athletics at Edgewood High School in Butler County, Ohio where he was responsible for 23 sports, 48 teams with 80 coaches. Cox brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience having served as the Athletic Director at Brescia University (KY), Assistant Athletic Director at Mount St. Joseph College (OH), and NCAA Compliance Manager at Thomas More College (KY). He has a successful track record of leadership in many areas including student-athlete recruiting, facilities upgrades, contract negotiations and community relations. Read More

UU to Host Roundball Reunion on Feb. 7

Basketball has been a popular sport at Urbana University for much of its recent history. To celebrate this legacy, on Saturday, Feb. 7, the university is hosting the Round Ball Reunion, inviting former Urbana University basketball players, cheerleaders, coaches, athletic directors, faculty, staff and friends to return to campus to relive their memories and renew relationships.

Recognizing alumni participants from all years, the event will include lunch at noon in the Student Center, as well as gifts for former players, historical photos and displays and special recognition of the 50th reunion of the 1965-1966 men’s team.

Guests can also enjoy watching the current men’s and women’s Blue Knights take on Shepherd University at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. The men’s game will also include halftime recognition of all former players in attendance, including the 50th reunion team.
