Freshman Scores Overtime Game-Winner
Waldon's goal pushes Urbana past Point Park
URBANA, Ohio (August 26, 2007) – The Blue Knight women’s soccer team used overtime to defeat Point Park University, 2-1, Sunday at Ellis Field.

Trailing 1-0 after the first half, senior Brittany Webb knotted the score on an assist by Abi Nelson that found the net on the near side post.

“I was disappointed how we came out and played sloppy in the first half,” said Urbana University Head Coach Jim Wendling. “We definitely lacked intensity from the start, but the second half was a whole new level of effort. We made crisp connecting passes, and had great timing on our crosses.”

In overtime, freshman Kara Waldon ended the game with her second goal in as many days. She was assisted by another freshman, Randi Granat, whose tremendous battle against the goalie enabled Waldon to pick up the rebound.

Junior goalkeeper Heather Maus picked up the victory, saving one shot.

The victory pushes the Blue Knights to 2-0 on the season. They will host Huntington College this Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m.
