Lady Knights place second at ODU
Ertel named All-tourney while Cook gets hole in one
COLUMBUS,Oh (Sept. 30, 2006) -- Urbana's women's golf team placed second with a team best 386 at the Ohio Dominican golf tournament over the weekend. Freshman Cortney Ertel(Woodstock/Triad HS) led the team shooting a 92 the first day and an 82 the second. Ertel was named to the All-tournament team after missing medalist honors by only two strokes. Playing for the team on day one, freshman Jenna Swihart(Waynesburg/Sandy Valley HS) scored a 109;sophomore Shelby Buck(S. Charleston/Southeastern HS) a 100; Ertel, 92; sophomore Cami Anthony(Miamisburg/Carlisle HS) shot a 97; while sophomore Kendra Billenstein(Greenville/Ansonia HS) shot a 99. Individual scores on day one included sophomore transfer Pam Cook(Milford/HS/Northeastern U,MA)with a 108 which included a hole in one on Hole#3. Becky Rutan(Mechanicsburg/HS) also shot a 104. On day two of the tournament, the team overcame the cold, rainy conditions to set a new team record. They came in first for the day with a team score of 365. Scores for the second day were: Ertel with an 82; Anthony with an 89; Buck shot a 93; Billenstein and Swihart both shot a 101. Pam Cook shot a 95 and Becky Rutan has a 105, individually. The second place finish on day one and the first place finish on day two gave the Lady Knights the 2nd place overall for the weekend finishing only behind host school ODU.
