Burage has Big Day
Blue Knights coast to victory against Indiana Tech
URBANA, Ohio (December 12, 2007) – Blue Knight sophomore Crystal Burage scored a career high 17 points to lead all scorers in Urbana University’s 69-44 non-conference win over Indiana Tech Wednesday night at the Grimes Center Gymnasium.

Burage, who shot 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line, also had four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Fellow sophomore Sarah Branham pulled in a season high eight rebounds to go along with her nine points and four steals. Junior Tia Simms racked up 12 points, a game- and career-high 11 rebounds (for her first double-double), four assists and five steals.

Urbana defeated the Warriors (0-13) by just two points, 66-64, in Ft. Wayne the Saturday before this game. This contest started out close and Indiana Tech held a five point lead with 11:03 to play in the first half. The Blue Knights regained the lead for good on a Burage lay up – on the feed from junior Enisia Curry – with 4:37 until halftime to make it 19-17. Burage banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Urbana a 28-20 halftime lead.

It was all Blue Knights in the second half, as Urbana outscored Tech, 41-24. The Blue Knights led by as many as 32. Urbana out rebounded the Warriors, 47-32, including a commanding advantage on the offensive boards, 21-11. The game was riddled with turnovers as the two teams combined for 54 ( Urbana 24, IT 30).

Curry turned in another solid performance with eight points and eight rebounds. Senior Brittany Granger drilled two treys for six points and senior Megan Mummey blocked three shots, a career high.

Urbana returns to action after the holiday break when they travel to New York to take on Daemen College Friday, Jan. 4 at 5:30 p.m. The Blue Knights don’t play their next home game until Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Cedarville.
