Secure AMC Playoff Berth

URBANA, Oh (Feb. 19, 2008)—The Urbana University Blue Knight women’s basketball team secured a berth in the American Mideast Conference playoffs as they defeated Walsh University, 73-54.

The Blue Knights took a 32-23 lead into the locker room at half time despite the full court pressure from the Walsh defense. Urbana kept found themselves up by as much as 15, but watched that dwindle to nine before regaining their focus and coming away with the 19 point win.

Urbana saw three players in double figures, two of which barely missed out on double-doubles. Junior Enisia Curry posted 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Blue Knights while senior Haley Fannon, playing in her last home game as a Blue Knight, added 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds. She also added six assists. Freshman Jessica Byrd joined them in double digits with 15 points.  This was the last home game for seniors Fannon, Megan Mummey, Brittany Granger and Valerie Feldmeyer.

Urbana will travel to Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 23 to take on No. 8 NAIA Shawnee State University in their last regular season AMC contest before heading into conference tournament play.
