Five Blue Knights Hit Double Figures to Down Bulldogs
URBANA, Ohio (Feb. 5, 2008)—The Urbana University women’s basketball team saw five of its players hit double figures en route to a 87-72 win over the visiting Wilberforce University Bulldogs.

The Blue Knights got off to a slow start in the first half and led 40-30 heading into the locker room at half time behind freshman Jessica Byrd’s 16 first half points.

Urbana was up by as many as 21 points in the second half but the Bulldogs kept themselves in the game behind Janicia Anderson’s 18 second half points.

Byrd finished the night with 22 points and three assists. She was followed by Haley Fannon with 19 points and six assists. Enisia Curry posted a double-double as she put up 15 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.  MaryJo Weisenbarger came off the bench to add 13 points and swipe three steals while Tia Simms added 10 points and a career-high eight assists.

For Wilberforce, Anderson finished with 24 points, leading all scorers. Andrecia Smith had 16 points while Tonya Lee added 13. Anderson also had nine rebounds.

The Blue Knights will travel to Notre Dame College for a non-conference game on Thursday before returning to AMC play on Saturday as they travel to No. 16 Ohio Dominican.
