No. 19 Redwomen Too Much For Blue Knights
URBANA, Oh (Feb. 2, 2008)—The Urbana University women’s basketball team suffered another AMC loss at the hands of the No. 19 University of Rio Grande Redwomen as they fell, 45-57.

In the first half, the scored stayed close, and very low, with Rio lead 11-6 at the ten minute mark. The Blue Knights pulled back within three on a pair of free throws by Tia Simms. Simms had all 10 of the Blue Knights first 10 points, as they only scored 17 in the first half. However, they held the Redwomen to only 24 points.

The second half didn’t see much scoring until after the 12 minute mark and with time slipping away and Rio in the double bonus, Rio sealed their win at the free throw line.

Urbana was out rebounded 49-36, and 39-27 on the defensive end. The Blue Knights had a poor day from the field, shooting only 17-63.

Urbana was led by Simms with 12 points and six rebounds. Simms suffered a head injury and played only sparingly in the second half before fouling out. Enisia Curry led on the glass corralling nine rebounds. Haley Fannon and Crystal Burage each added seven points.

Rio Grande saw Sarah Drabinski record a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Britney Walker added 13 points.

The Blue Knights return to action at home against AMC opponent Wilberforce with tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Warren G. Grimes Center Gymnasium.
