Blue Knights Fall Short in Upset Bid of No. 21 Rio
RIO GRANDE, Ohio (Jan. 12, 2008 )-- The Urbana University women's basketball team came out and battled hard in the first half against the No. 21 University of Rio Grande Redwomen but Rio responded with a strong second half to defeat the Blue Knights 61-47 in Urbana's second American Mideast Conference game of the season.
Urbana (9-4, 1-1 AMC) went into the locker room at halftime with a 29-28 lead but Rio(13-1, 1-1 AMC) came out in the second half ready to play as they outscored the Blue Knights 33-18.
The Blue Knights were led by Haley Fannon with 15 points and three steals. Tia Simms added 13 points with six rebounds. Enisia Curry was a force on the boards with 12 rebounds. Megan Mummey also had eight points and eight rebounds.
The Blue Knights will return to AMC play Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. against Cedarville University.
