Blue Knights Down Bears in Four
URBANA, Ohio(Sept. 25, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball(6-10, 1-3 AMC) team got its first American Mideast Conference win of the season as they beat Shawnee State in four games, 31-29, 24-30, 30-19, 30-28. The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Heather Powers with 22 kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces. Freshman setter Audree Castle ran the offense with 46 assists and 11 digs while senior Lisa Schulte contributed 15 digs, 11 kills, and three aces. Junior Kelly Boyer has 12 kills and six blocks while sophomore Jacie Peters had six kills and 6 blocks, five of which were solos. Junior Libero Maria Wuebker chipped in 14 digs.

Head coach Jeremy Wise was impressed with his team’s attitude this match. “The team came out and played a good, emotional, hard fought match. They stayed focused in order to finish close games.” 

The Blue Knights also hosted the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization as the kids were invited to eat dinner with the team. Afterwards, the players held a mini-clinic to teach the kids the basic skills and learn how to serve for the contest they participated in between games two and three of the match. The kids also wore a jersey of the player who was there Big for the night and were introduced with the players.
