Head Coach Jeremy Wise was more pleased with the play of this weekend and thinks his team is finally starting to play to their potential. “The team played better this week and we had some of our better players step up and provide leadership that we needed,” said Wise. “We are still trying new people at new positions to get the chemistry right on the court. Big strides were made towards that this weekend as we played four very scrappy teams and got two wins and gained lots of experience for our new players.”
The Blue Knights were led on offense by sophomore outside Heather Powers with 47 kills. She also added 10 blocks. Senior all-around player Lisa Schulte had a complete weekend with 88 digs and 41 kills. Both Powers and Schulte were named to the Earlham Quaker Classic All-Tournament squad. Junior middle hitter Kelly Boyer added 38 kills and was a force at the net with 24 blocks. Junior Libero Maria Wuebker led the defense with 93 digs and pitched in her share of offense with nine service aces. Freshman setters Audree Castle and Stevie Jacob collected 81 and 49 assists, respectively.
Next up, the Blue Knights will host Cedarville University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4th. |
