Blue Knights to Host Volleyball Clinics
URBANA, Ohio – The Blue Knight volleyball coaching staff and team will hold two instructional clinics this summer: a youth four-day clinic July 14-17; and a setter/hitter clinic for high school athletes July 28-29. There are only 40 spots available for each clinic. The cost of the youth clinic is $60 per athlete, while the cost of the setter/hitter clinic is $90 per athlete. Four Blue Knights Named All-AMC
URBANA, Oh (Nov. 14, 2007) — The Urbana University volleyball team had four of its players named to the American Mideast Conference all-conference honorable mention team for the 2007 season. Senior Lisa Schulte, juniors Kelly Boyer and Maria Wuebker and sophomore Heather Powers were all awarded the honor for their contributions to the Blue Knights on the court this season.
Schulte finished out her career with the Blue Knights 3rd in career kills and digs. She finished the season with 603 digs and 306 kills which moves her to 2088 digs and 1198 kills for her career. Boyer finished the season leading the AMC in blocks per game with 1.7, recording 195 total for the season. She also was consistently in the top of the NAIA volleyball standings for that same category where she finished 9th for the season. Powers, in her first year with the Blue Knights after transferring from Miami University of Ohio, led Urbana in kills with 443 kills. Wuebker anchored the Blue Knight defense with 676 digs which moves her higher into the top five career.
Blue Knights Take Two to Finish Season
Urbana, Ohio (Nov. 2, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team added two wins to finish out their 2007 season as they defeated conference opponent Ohio Dominican University before defeating non-conference Central State University. Urbana took down the Panthers in four games, 30-22, 25-30, 30-26, 36-34, and then finished with a three-game win over the Marauders, 30-9, 30-14, 30-17. [more]
Blue Knights Take Down Rio in Three
Urbana, Ohio (Oct. 30, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team added another conference win to their record as they took down the University of Rio Grande Redwomen in three games, 33-31, 30-25, 30-25.[more]

Urbana Splits at Mt. St. Joe Tri-Match
Urbana, Ohio (Oct. 20, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team split a pair of matches at a non-conference tri-match at the College of Mt. St. Joseph as they defeated Manchester College in four games, 30-26, 30-26, 23-30, 33-31, before dropping a match to host MSJ, 19-30, 30-32, 30-21, 28-30. [more]

Urbana, Ohio (Oct. 16, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team put up a fight but couldn’t find a way to knock off American Mideast Conference undefeated Mount Vernon Nazarene University as they dropped the match 0-3, 22-30, 26-30, 26-30. Urbana Drops Two At Tri-Match
Urbana, Ohio (Oct. 13, 3007)—The Urbana University volleyball team just couldn’t find their groove as they dropped two matches at a tri-match at Walsh University. In the first match, Walsh downed the Blue Knights in three, 30-13, 30-16, 30-15. The Blue Knights came back to play strong against Indiana Tech but couldn’t finish as they dropped that match in three, 30-26, 30-28, 22-30. [more]

URBANA, Ohio (Oct. 11, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team just couldn’t find a way to finish of league powerhouse Cedarville University on Tuesday as the Blue Knights dropped a conference road match to the Jackets, 0-3 with scores of 25-30, 21-30, 22-30.[more]

URBANA, Ohio (Oct. 8, 2007)—The Urbana University women’s volleyball team broke the .500 mark for the season as they topped Earlham College in a non-conference match to move their record to 11-10. The Blue Knights finished the Quakers in three games, 30-25, 30-28, and 30-15. [more]

Urbana Picks Up Two More Wins At Tri-Match
URBANA, Ohio (Sept. 29, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball team picked up two more wins to bring their record to 9-10 overall as they defeated Marietta College and Shawnee State University in a non-conference tri-match. Urbana defeated Marietta in four games, 23-30, 30-27, 30-28, and 30-27. The Blue Knights turned right around and defeated Shawnee for the second time in one week with scores of 30-19, 30-28, 30-21. URBANA, Ohio (9-27-07)—The Urbana University volleyball (7-10, 2-3 AMC) team pulled out a thrilling five-game upset over the Ohio Dominican Panthers even after dropping the first two games of the match. After falling in the first two games, 27-30, 22-30, the Blue Knights rallied to wins of 30-27, 30-20, and 15-9. [more]

URBANA, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2007)—The Urbana University volleyball(6-10, 1-3 AMC) team got its first American Mideast Conference win of the season as they beat Shawnee State in four games, 31-29, 24-30, 30-19, 30-28. The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Heather Powers with 22 kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces. [more]
Volleyball Goes 3-1 In Case Western Invitational
URBANA, Ohio – The Blue Knight volleyball team picked up three wins this weekend and dropped only one match at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Invitational. Urbana came out strong Friday as they defeated Ursuline, who went on to win the tournament, in four games, 30-22, 30-18, 23-30, 32-30. In the night cap, the Blue Knights needed three quick games to defeat Lake Erie College, 30-26, 30-18, 30-25. Saturday morning started off a bit shaky as Urbana dropped a match to Roberts Wesleyan, 26-30, 27-30, 22-30, but bounced back quickly to take the win against Notre Dame College, 30-28, 30-22, 30-23. For the weekend, Urbana was led by sophomore Heather Powers with 51 kills. Senior Lisa Schulte had another all-around weekend with 87 digs and 42 kills. Schulte broke her 1000 career kill in the first match against Roberts Wesleyan. Junior middle blocker Kelly Boyer pounded 35 kills and added 21 blocks. Junior Libero Maria Wuebker dug up 73 balls while freshman setter Audree Castle set up 75 assists with 46 digs and 10 aces. Freshman setter Stevie Jacob added 49 assists and eight aces. The Blue Knights return to action Tuesday, September 18 as they travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene University for a 7 p.m. game.
Urbana Drops Match To Walsh
URBANA, Ohio (Sept. 11, 2007)-- The Urbana University volleyball team came out strong in the first and second game but still struggled to find a way to win as they dropped a match to defending league champion and nationally ranked Walsh, 20-30, 26-30, 12-30. The Blue Knights were led by junior Kelly Boyer and senior Lisa Schulte with nine kills and sophomore Heather Powers with eight. Schulte also contributed seven kills. Urbana was led on defense by freshman Audree Castle with nine digs. She also had 14 assists. The Blue Knights travel to the Spartan Invitational at Case Western Reserve University.
Blue Knights Fall to Cedarville in Home Opener
URBANA, Ohio (09-04-07)— The Urbana University volleyball team came out strong but couldn’t find a way to finish as they fell in three games to Cedarville University, 26-30, 22-30, 13-30 in their first home game of the season. The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Heather Powers with eight kills. Senior Lisa Schulte added 19 digs and five kills. Freshman setter Audree Castle powered the offense with 14 assists and 10 digs. Maria Wuebker pitched in 18 digs. Urbana (2-7, 0-1 AMC) will return to action at home on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 against Walsh University.

Brunner named to AVCA Region IX All-Region Team
URBANA, Ohio (Dec. 8, 2006)-- Urbana University senior Mary Brunner continues to get recognized for her outstanding play at Urbana University as she was named as a member of the AVCA Region IX team. This is Brunner's second year, as she was a selection last season as well. Brunner averaged four kills per game for the Blue Knights while hitting at a .388 attack percentage. She also led the team in blocking with 1.08 blocks per game. Brunner ends a tremoundous career with the Blue Knights after being a starter for all four years. |
