Knights Pick Up All-Conference/Region Awards
Pluger Takes Home Coach of the Year in Both
URBANA, Oh (May 11, 2007)—The Urbana University women’s softball team added more awards under their belt as the AMC South Division Co-Champs saw many players, and coaches, named to the All-American Mideast Conference and All-Region IX team.
Senior short stop Katie Mallett (Canton, Ohio)(pictured top left) led the way as she was named 1st team All-conference as well as being named to the 1st team All-region.Earning 2nd team honors, was freshman catcher Linsey Manning (Fairborn, Oh)(pictured right) who also picked up a nod to the All-Freshman team.
Junior third baseman Jackie Masur (Cincinnatti, Oh) and sophomore pitcher Andrea Chaney (Dayton, Oh) were also awarded 2nd team honors. Sophomore utility player Katie Cramer was an honorable mention selections as well junior second baseman Erin Dowdell.
Head Coach Nicole Pluger (pictured left) came away with the South Coach of the Year honors as she turned the Knights around from a mere 2-12 record in the AMC to a 10-4 record and league championship. Pluger was also named the Region IX coach of the year as well.
