Urbana Second in NAIA Region IX Poll
URBANA, Ohio (April 22, 2008) – After its four-game sweep of the top two teams in the American Mideast Conference and going 6-2 on the week, Urbana University has jumped from sixth to second in the NAIA Softball Region IX Top 10 for April 21.
The Blue Knights swept doubleheaders against AMC South Division leader Rio Grande (23-13, 12-4 AMC) and second-place Ohio Dominican (14-21, 8-4 AMC) over the weekend. Urbana has been ranked in the Region IX Top 10 all season, but had fallen to sixth in the previous rating. The Blue Knights started off the season ranked second in the rating, released on March 17. They fell to fifth in week two and their lowest ranking was seventh in rating No. 3 (March 31). Urbana inched up to fifth in the following ranking, only to go back to sixth in week six.
AMC North Division leader Walsh University (27-7, 17-1 AMC) is ranked first in the Region IX Top 10 for the second consecutive week.
