Urbana Captures Key AMC Victories Over Rio
Blue Knights win season series, 3-1

RIO GRANDE, Ohio (April 19, 2008)-The Blue Knight softball team won two against American Mideast Conference opponent Rio Grande (23-13, 12-4 AMC) on Saturday. In the first game the Blue Knights were tied 2-2 going into the seventh when they scored seven runs making the final score 9-2. The second game was similar as the Blue Knights held the lead but used a monster seventh inning, scorings six runs to take a big lead and a 9-3 win over the Redwomen.
Urbana (13-12, 4-4 AMC) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the first game thanks to 2 RBI by junior Jessica Tuttle. However, Rio was on their game and quickly tied it at 2-2 by the bottom of the fourth inning. The Blue Knights were not done yet though. Freshman Tami Lasley scored on a play by Tuttle and would start off the runs in the seventh. The team played strong throughout and scored six more runs to win the game 9-2.
Urbana was first to score yet again and the game played out in familiar fashion. Rio quickly tied it up 1-1 in the second inning on an RBI by junior Amanda Stevens. The Knights would not give up just yet and would score one on a homerun from freshman Danielle Finley. They would get another run on the board on an RBI by senior Jackie Masur to make the score 3-1. In the seventh the Blue Knights would score six more runs to widen their lead.
