MVNU Sweeps Urbana in AMC Opener
MT. VERNON, Ohio (March 29, 2008) – The Blue Knight softball team went 0-2 against Mount Vernon Nazarene (11-3, 2-0 AMC) in a doubleheader in its American Mideast Conference season opener. The Cougars took game one, 6-1, and followed that with a 4-1 win.

A Linsey Manning RBI double in the fourth inning plated Urbana’s only run of the first game to cut the Lady Cougar’s lead to 2-1. MVNU answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to close the door.

The Blue Knights (7-8, 0-2 AMC) took a 1-0 lead in game two on a Tami Lasley RBI single to score Manning, who doubled to start the second inning. The Cougars tied it up in the bottom of the third and put three more runs up in the fifth. The Blue Knights had six hits to MVNU’s seven, but couldn’t string them together, never having more than two hits in a single inning.
