Urbana Explodes for Five Runs in Game-Deciding 8th
Blue Knights top Findlay in extra-inning win
FINDLAY, Ohio (March 27, 2008) – The Blue Knight softball team was back at it again Thursday, winning a non-conference game over Findlay in dramatic fashion. Urbana broke open a two-all tie with a five-run extravaganza in the top of the eighth for the 7-2 victory.

Urbana owned a 2-1 lead after six innings. Sophomore Linsey Manning singled to left center to score fellow sophomore Brittany Heunen in the top of the fourth. Junior Jessica Tuttle started the fifth inning with a double and senior Erin Dowdell got the RBI. Findlay fought back with runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Senior Jackie Masur (left) hit a 2 RBI single and Manning followed that with a 2 RBI double. Urbana freshman Ashley Meyer (1-1) shut down the Oilers in the bottom of the eighth, and did not allow a single hit.

Manning led Urbana at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Masur was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.

The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled after just two innings due to rain.

Urbana plays a doubleheader at Mount Vernon Nazarene in its American Mideast Conference opener this Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
